Edward Benstead died from wounds on 19th November, 1914, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Royal West Surrey (Queens) battalion was part of 22 Brigade, 7th Division that had arrived on the Western Front at the beginning of October, 1914 and had been involved in the fighting  since that date, including the First Battle of Ypres in October and November, 1914.
